The All Progressives Congress (APC) has changed its plans for activities in 2026.
The party has extended its membership e-registration exercise to February 8, 2026, so that more people can register. However, APC will not hold congresses in Rivers State, Osun State, Ekiti State, and the Federal Capital Territory (FCT) for now.
The APC National Publicity Secretary, Felix Morka, announced this in Abuja on Friday. He also said that the party’s National Convention, earlier planned for March 17, will now hold on March 27 and 28, 2026.
Originally, APC scheduled the e-registration from December 1, 2025, to January 30, 2026. But the party’s National Working Committee decided to extend it to give more members time to register and help the party reach its target of 12 million members.
According to Morka, Rivers State is excluded because APC already held special congresses there last year, and the officials elected are still in office. Osun State, Ekiti State, and the FCT are excluded because they will soon hold elections. Congresses in those areas will be conducted after the elections.
He said APC will hold its nationwide congresses on February 18, 2026, except in the four states mentioned.
Morka urged party members to encourage others who have not registered to use the extra time provided.
The APC National Secretary, Ajibola Basiru, said the e-registration exercise is going well and the extension is not because of low turnout. He added that APC has already registered more than seven million members and expects to reach over 12.5 million by the time registration ends.
Basiru also said applications for party congresses will now be done online for the first time. To register as a member, a person must provide their name and Voter Identification Number (VIN).
He explained that APC wants all its members to be registered voters because voting is the best way to show support for the party.
