ADC Calls for INEC Chairman’s Resignation

The African Democratic Congress (ADC) has asked the Chairman of the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC), Professor Joash Amupitan, and all National Commissioners to resign or be removed.

The party said it no longer trusts INEC’s leadership and believes they cannot conduct free and fair elections.

ADC National Chairman, Senator David Mark, made the call at a press conference in Abuja on Thursday.

The event was attended by top politicians, including former Vice President Atiku Abubakar and ex-governors like Peter Obi, Rabiu Kwankwaso, Rotimi Amaechi, and Liyel Imoke.

Mark also rejected INEC’s decision to withdraw recognition of his leadership and that of National Secretary Rauf Aregbesola.

He said the party would continue its activities, insisting that INEC’s presence is not required by law.

He also called on the international community to pay attention to INEC’s actions and warned that they could threaten Nigeria’s democracy.
