The Accident Investigation Bureau (AIB), on Wednesday submitted its report of findings on how
the Beechcraft King Air 350i operated by the Nigeria Air Force crashed to the Chief of Air Staff,
Air Marshal Oladayo Amao.
It would be recalled that the aircraft had on Friday, May 31 crashed at the vicinity of Kaduna
Civil Airport, killing the military personnel, including a former Chief of Army Staff, Lt.-Gen.
Ibrahim Attahiru and 10 others.
Shortly after the incident, the air chief had directed that a joint investigative body consisting of
experienced NAF safety officers and the AIB be constituted to investigate the circumstances
surrounding the air crash.
However, in a statement jointly signed by NAF spokesman, Air Commodore Edward Gabkwet,
and the General Manager in charge of Public Affairs at AIB, Tunji Oketunbi, the Bureau
disclosed that the report is organised into three sections.
Although the details of the incidents were not made public, the Bureau said its findings,
segmented into three sections, include the information obtained in the course of the
investigation; analysis of data collected in view of the Board’s Terms of Reference; and the
conclusion.
